A Sumner County, TN fugitive is back behind bars tonight.

The escaped inmate was arrested last night.

A Hart County Country Hearth Inn employee told police the man was staying in one of the motel rooms.

"When the 5 o'clock news came on, that's when I sat down to the computer and I just happened to walk by and I remembered those tags and for some reason them numbers and letters stuck in my mind and when I sat down and watched the news I saw that's him, that's the truck," says Jeff Carpenter who turned the fugitive in.

When Stevie Robertson, 35, checked-in to the Country Hearth Inn Wednesday Carpenter, who is the Maintenance worker, never thought he was a man on the loose.

Robertson was in a Sumner County jail for exploitation of a minor.

While in Bowling Green for a doctor's appointment, he escaped.

Robertson stole his mother's truck and fled from Warren County.

Carpenter recalls when he realized the fugitive was staying in the motel.

"He's here! He's in room 139. That's the truck they are looking for! I was just ready to call police and get him out of here," he says.

Carpenter says once Stevie Robertson checked into the motel room, it seemed like he didn't want to be found.

"Once he went into the room he didn't come back out until they got him out. He was hiding," Carpenter said.

He says police asked him to help get Robertson out of the room.

"I told him I thought there was a leak upstairs and it might be leaking into his room. And he said, 'Nope, it's not leaking into the room,' and I said, 'Well, you need to come out,' and he said, 'Okay,' but he didn't," Carpenter says.

Police asked Robertson to surrender.

He turned himself in.

Robertson is being held in the Hart County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond.

The Hart County Circuit Clerk expects Robertson will be extradited back to Tennessee.
