With eyes filled with tears, two murder victims families watched as Gilbert Holts Jr. entered court to deliver his guilty plea.

Holts is convicted of the 2005 double murder of Jamaal Covington and Latasia Kirk at Willow Creek Apartments in Bowling Green.

Friday's plea doesn't heal the broken hearts of family members.

"I can't go to tell my son happy birthday. April 21st was the day he murdered him. My birthday is April the 15th," says Clara Barnett, the mother of Jamaal Covington.

Holts now faces life in prison with the eligibility for parole after 20 years. Covingtons mother was hopeful for a trial so her sons killer could be guaranteed behind bars.

"I said at first when he was going to plea bargain for 20 years with parole, I don't think that's justice. I am his mother and as a mother you want justice done," says Barnett.

The family of Latasia Kirk feel some relief knowing the case is coming to a close.

"I feel like justice is some what served. I feel confident in 20 years that he won't make parole," says Sharon Jones, the Aunt of Latasia Kirk.

Members of the Bowling Green Police Department were also in court Friday. Warren County Commonwealth Attorney Chris Cohron says it's with their help victims families can feel some closure.

"There was some question if the case would ever be solved. Thankfully for the hard work of the detectives and the Bowling Green Police Department there were able to put us into a position to get to today's date," says Cohron.

Holts will return to court March 22 for his final sentencing.
