A central Kentucky man has pleaded guilty to kidnapping a 10-year-old girl and attempting to rape and kill her.
WLKY-TV in Louisville reports that 28-year-old Jetto Dye entered the plea Monday morning in LaRue Circuit Court. Dye was sentenced to a total of 30 years in prison — 15 years for attempted rape, 15 years for attempted murder and 20 years for kidnapping to be served concurrently. He also received a 10-year sentence for sexual abuse, to be served consecutively to the other sentences.
Dye pleaded guilty in November to taking the girl from his home into a wooded area behind his house.
State police say Dye is no relation to the child but her parents were visiting Dye's home and left briefly while the girl was asleep.
