It is the job no one seems to want.

The position of surveyor in Monroe County is vacant and no candidate filed to run for the unpaid job on Tuesday's ballot. County Judge-Executive Tommy Willett told the Glasgow Daily Times that, with no elected candidate, he'll appoint someone in January.

Jason Hagan last filled the role from 2006 through 2010, but no one has held the position since 2011.

Willett said he hasn't appointed anyone because he didn't know he had the authority to do so.
