The Bowling Green distribution center isn't the only US Postal Service location moving operations out of the state.
The USPS is closing mail sorting operation in Pikeville by the end of January, with the work moving to West Virginia.
The Postal Service says the plant in Charleston, West Virginia has the capacity to handle the work and will save the post office money.
Reduced mail volumes have forced the consolidation.
Postal officials say local mail delivery will not be affected by the consolidation.
