If you were driving on Scottsville Rd. today you probably weren't getting anywhere fast.
Road paving in the construction area near the exit 22 ramps on Scottsville Rd. had traffic limited to one lane both ways for several hours, causing a major traffic jam.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Department of Highways urged motorists to seek alternative routes from nine to three today in anticipation of long delays.
"We anticipate having the interchange there at exit 22 on Scottsville Road complete by the end of the year. That's what we're pushing for, and the very reason we decided to go ahead and pave during the day on Friday and again today. It's very inconvenient and we're aware of that but we need those warm temperatures to get the final layer of asphalt on the ground," said Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Dept. of Highways District 3 Public Information Officer Keirsten Jaggers.
Jaggers says this will be the last time the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet anticipates having to alter the flow of traffic for the remainder of the project.
