New Call Center for Health Insurance Opens

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Workers at a newly opened call center in Lexington will answer questions about how people can get health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

The center opened Thursday and employs 60 workers, though that number is expected to increase to 100.

Gov. Steve Beshear said Kentucky is ahead of several other states in preparing to help people obtain insurance through the program for the first time. He said the call center is an important step toward aiding residents through a complicated process.

Kentucky residents can begin signing up for insurance through the program on October 1.
