Police say Mike Beason died from his injuries around 2 AM Monday morning.

BGPD says they are now investigating this crime as a homicide.

Police say Beason also went by the name Gary Winn.

Family members said 62-year-old Mike Beason was beaten so badly in his home on Monday, that his face swelled to twice it's normal size. They also said he had bruises in the shape of baseball bats all over his chest.

"This was a shock. He's not out there trying to find people or get into it with anybody. I don't think he has an enemies. I think this was a random attack. Somebody just wanted to rob him," said Beason's brother, Donald Daniels.

Police said the assault happened on North Sunrise Drive around 4:30 PM. Neighbors saw squad cars and police tape line the street. Once they became aware of what happened, they immediately began questioning their safety.

"I'm nervous, I don't know what to expect really. I mean, I grew up here," said neighbor, Sarah Downing.

Detectives with the Bowling Green Police Department spent the afternoon going up and down the 1400 block of North Sunrise Tuesday afternoon going door to door, asking neighbors if they saw anything. They expect those interviews to be key in the case, but they already have one big piece of evidence, a video showing what they're calling three persons of interest.

The video, taken from a camera in the neighborhood, shows three men walking just before the incident. Police say any information pertaining to the men could really help them in the case.

While family members of Beason's continue to pray for a full recovery, they're asking whoever did this to come forward.

"I pray that the guys who did do it, turn themselves in and make it a lot easier on themselves. You can't run forever," added a stern Daniels.

Relatives say Beason is getting better, but remains in serious condition.

If you know the identity of any of these men, you are asked to call (270) 393-4000 or Crime Stoppers at (270) 781-CLUE.
