BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - As the recovery efforts continue in Oklahoma, South Central Kentuckians want to help those affected by the tornadoes.

The Red Cross says the area has been overwhelmed with unsolicited donations of supplies. The City of Moore released a statement thanking everyone, but the situation is still a search and rescue operation.

City leaders and the Red Cross say at this time they need monetary donations.

"These people have lost everything. They don't have anywhere to store stuff. Imagine if you lost everything and you are just trying to pick up those pieces, go through the paper work and the processes. That is very overwhelming," says Jennifer Capps, Executive Director of the South Central Kentucky Chapter of the American Red Cross.

WBKO and the South Central Kentucky Chapter of the Red Cross have teamed up for a donation blitz.

You can make a monetary donation by calling 1-800-RED CROSS, or to make a $10 donation text REDCROSS to 90999.
