The fire destroyed a nearby work trailer, but Sheriff George Ballard says two workers were eating elsewhere when the explosion happened.

BUCKSKIN, In. (AP) -- An oil well with three storage tanks exploded in southwestern Indiana, sending up a plume of black smoke that could be seen for miles.

Authorities say no one was hurt in the fire on Sunday that happened in a rural area near the Gibson County community of Buckskin.

Barton Township Fire Department spokeswoman Darlene Cromer says an electric spark from one of the tank batteries is the suspected cause of the fire.

The fire destroyed a nearby work trailer, but Sheriff George Ballard says two workers were eating elsewhere when the explosion happened.

Cromer says crews were able to contain oil and water runoff from the scene about 20 miles northeast of Evansville.
