Oil Tank Explosion Leaves Clinton County Man Injured

ALBANY, Ky (WBKO) -- Kentucky State Police arson detectives are investigating the explosion of an oil tank that occurred in Albany at 12:15 PM CST on Thursday.

KSP says Kenneth E. Brown, 60, was performing maintenance on a 42 gallon 210 barrel oil tank when the grinder and welder sparked, causing the fumes to ignite and leading to the explosion.

Troopers say Brown suffered severe burns and was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Lake Cumberland Head Start and Lee’s Recipe Restaurant were evacuated as a precautionary measure, but no other injuries were reported.

The State Fire Marshall and Albany Fire Department assisted and the EPA was notified.
