UPDATE 9/3/13 5:45 PM CDT
It wasn't the scene that residents at Greenhaven Apartments wanted to arrive home to.
"I saw about 10 to 15 cop cars that were situated right about over there at those apartments," says Tyler Fields
Just after 11:00 p.m. Monday, Bowling Green Police say 20-year-old Larry Thomas was shot inside his apartment. Thomas ran to a neighbor, who called 911. He was flown to Vanderbilt Hospital where he later died.
This is the second deadly shooting in a matter of days. Just blocks away, Harold Dean Johnson was shot and killed at Dominos after a robbery.
It has left neighbors across the Stonehenge neighborhood on edge.
"You don't know about people these days, it makes you feel scared really," says Fields
Bowling Green Police continue their investigation in Monday night's shooting. While no suspect has been caught, they are taking a proactive approach to ease neighbors fears.
"It's just unfortunate that these two incidents happened within a week of each other in the same part of town. Obviously when an incident like this happens we step up our patrols in that area and start trying to identify people coming in and out of that area, observing traffic violations in that area," says Officer Ronnie Ward of the Bowling Green Police Department.
For Tyler Fields and Skylar Brown, the ongoing violence has struck too close to home.
"After this we have considered moving to a different place. Somewhere that might be safer," says Fields.
Bowling Green Police continue to follow leads but do not have a suspect or vehicle description at this time.
If you have any information about the murder of Larry Thomas you are asked to call Bowling Green Police at 270-393-4000 or you can remain anonymous at 781-CLUE.
