COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Investigators have identified remains found along the side of Interstate 75 in Kenton County as those of a northern Kentucky woman.

Kenton County Police say they are now searching for what killed 28-year-old Melinda Sue Ingram of New Richmond and how she ended up on the side of the road.

Ingram's aunt, Judy Hurst, told The Kentucky Enquirer the family "has no clue" what happened to her.

A contractor was clearing the right of way along I-75 South on Aug. 27 between Walton and Crittenden and found what appeared to be human remains. Officials estimated the body had been there in the ditch for about four weeks, which matched up with Ingram's disappearance.
