Possible Dental Scam in Glasgow

Posted: Tue 7:14 PM, Aug 21, 2012

Police are investigating a possible dental scam in Glasgow.

It began in mid July when the Glasgow Police Department began investigating complaints about a dental office.

People were saying that they'd paid for dental work, only to return and find a for rent sign on the window where the office once was.

"The Glasgow Police Department is actively investigating complaints from citizens in reference to a dental office doing business as "About Face Denture and Dental Care" on 103 Rogers Drive here in the city,"said Glasgow Police Dept. Public Affairs Officer Julie Anne Williams.

Clients would later realize it wasn't the doctor on the sign who was doing business inside.

"The name of the doctor on the door of the business was Dr. Roger McAlpin; however, the person doing the work inside the building has now been identified as Michael Richardson and his wife Lana," said Williams.

Richardson is now no where to be found. So far, 19 clients have complained. Those complaints come from Barren, Warren, Hart and Monroe counties. The amount owed to those who have come forward totals $12,550.

Neighboring businesses like Signworld had no idea this was going on.

"No, not until we started having alot of people come over asking where they were at and if they were open and everything," said Signworld's Tracy Mitchell.

Mitchell, like the clients, hasn't seen him.

"Saw him one time when we put the signs on his window, and that was it," said Mitchell.

Police says calls from former clients are continuing to come in and the investigation is ongoing.

Glasgow Police are asking anyone who may have information regarding this case, or have been a victim of this scam, to contact them at (270) 651-5151.
