FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- The Kentucky Historical Society and the state Education Department are conducting a yearlong program for 24 history and social studies teachers.
The program is being funded with a $20,000 grant from the Midwest Regional Center for Teaching with Primary Sources.
The Literacy Leaders Academy will take place June 19 to 21 in Frankfort and will continue with two webinar sessions in the fall, another in the spring and a one-day session in Frankfort in the spring.
Teachers must agree to teach what they learn to colleagues in their districts. The sessions will include information on how to use the Library of Congress website to locate primary sources, an introduction to the National History Day program and more.
