BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) --The Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) had special ceremony honoring local veterans Monday morning.
Their speaker was a member of the faculty who spent years in Navy submarines during the Cold War era. He explains why he says freedom is not free.
"Sometimes we see the emails from the governor saying fly the flag at half mast. That face, or that name belongs to somebody, and they're not going to be coming back. I was lucky because I returned from 21 years of military service, but there are alot of people that weren't so lucky," said Navy veteran Phillip Stagner.
Stagner talked about the impact military life has on families.
Then, one student sang the national anthem, followed by the audience's recital of the pledge of allegiance.
