Salvation Army Seeks Post-Holiday Donations and Volunteers

Updated: Wed 6:19 PM, Jan 09, 2013

The Salvation Army was overwhelmed by community support during the holidays, but that's a trend they hope will continue throughout the year.

The Salvation Army Thrift Store sells new and gently used clothes, toys, electronics, and furniture. They say they're always in need of items and volunteers.

They say if you have something laying around unused, they can take it. Even if you can't make it during regular hours.

"We actually have a bin out there that people can put things in after hours when we're closed, and a canopy where they can put bigger stuff that won't fit in the bin," said Salvation Army Thrift Store Manager Sheryl Emberton.

Emberton suggests bringing electronics and things that can be damaged by rain inside during store hours when possible, but she says many people use the bin to donate.

All the proceeds from the store also go back to the salvation army shelter.
