School safety remains a top priority across the country after the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy.

Some have suggested school districts should fund armed guards.

In our studio last night, U.S. Senator Rand Paul said he favors allowing teachers and principals who have been through conceal carry training to be armed in school.

Local districts remain wary, but say they are looking at all possibilities to keep kids safe.

"Right now that is not even an option that we can consider. The way that our laws are structured. Certainly if that were to change we would be a part of that discussion. Our ultimate goal is to ensure the safety of our children," says Barren County Schools Superintendent Bo Matthews.

Matthews says he will be watching what happens in Washington over the coming months.
