Senior Olympics Allow Stress Relief

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Tuesday's sunny weather made it a perfect day for the Senior Olympics in Woodburn. Games like horseshoes and washers are popular among seniors, and Tuesday many were rewarded with medals for their skills. Care homes and day programs from across the area participated in the event that allowed many to take their minds off of every day stress.

"Everybody is their own individual no matter how old they are. When you get some fresh air and do events like that you really see that. It's a day that we don't worry so much about diets and all that. Everybody got cookies. You just have a good time. You don't worry about those typical everyday things, like medication and things like that." said Hopkins Care and Rehabilitation Center Administrator, Jennifer Soldevilla.

Hillbilly golf and basketball were also events that took place at the Olympics. The hit of the day however, were balloon animals given to participants by a balloon artist.
