BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management recently released this year's list of "Best Places to Work in Kentucky," and several Bowling Green businesses made the list.
It's not difficult to see why some businesses who made this year's list are great places to work. At Hitcents, part of the reason is because they aren't afraid to play either.
"Nerf gun fights! We have an electronic skateboard that goes through the office all the time. We had a Chinese dragon come in here not too long ago. We have ping pong tournaments," said Hitcents Video Manager Corey Fryia.
Fryia says it's not just the games that make Hitcents a great place to work.
"New ideas are welcomed, so if you have something new, something creative, something innovative, we want to explore those ideas because those are the ideas that make Hitcents what it is," said Fryia.
Hitcents isn't the only local business on the list where employees get to play around with technology. Those at Bluegrass Cellular say that's one reason they love going to work.
"I'd like to think it's two fold. One, we sell really cool things. It's alot of fun to be able to play with the latest and greatest technologies and to be a part of that. The other side of it is, we do alot for our employees.
We really care about them, so when you have the two merged together, it makes for a great work environment," said Bluegrass Cellular Group Manager of Retail Operations Jason Raymer.
Caring about employees is something the general manager at Leachman Buick GMC Cadillac says will trickle down to customers too.
"To me, happy employees mean happy customers, and that's probably the thing that makes me the proudest is that I know if all our employees are happy, then they'll treat our customers the way we want, and I'm more proud of that award than I am being the number one GMC dealer in the state quite honestly, because that means everybody's happy," said Leachman Buick GMC Cadillac General Manager David Jaggers.
The companies were selected from applicants, after assessing the businesses' employee policies and results of an internal employee survey.
Here are the other Bowling Green businesses that made the list:
Connected Nation, ARGI Financial Group, Van Meter Insurance Group, PBI Bank, Edward Jones, First Federal Savings Bank. Farm Credit Mid-America, Hilliard Lyons, Neace Lukens, and Community Trust Bank.
