Kentucky state troopers have found a Washington County man and his mother-in-law dead after a report of a man threatening suicide.

WLEX-TV in Lexington reported police were on their way to a home south of Springfield late Sunday when a second phone call reported shooting inside the house. The caller said two people had escaped to a neighbor's home.

A special response team went into the house around 3:30 a.m. Monday and found two people dead.

The KSP identified them as 52-year-old William Woodford and 58-year-old Phyllis Tarter

Debbie Woodford and her 17-year-old son escaped from the house and were not harmed.

Police are investigating the incident as a likely murder-suicide.
