Special Report: How to Fix a Wrinkle

"We consider this social downtime, so you might leave looking a little flushed, maybe a little sunburned, but it resolves in 10-20 minutes."

Deanna Diel wanted her happiness on the inside to show on the outside.

"My main reason for doing it is that I had really natural frown lines. It would make me look like I was frowning even when I'm not frowning," said Deanna.

Deanna's not alone. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 14.6 million cosmetic plastic surgery procedures were performed in the United States in 2012.

"People of all ages are doing it. People in their late 20's do it. People in their late 70's do it," said Dr. F. Victor Atalla, a plastic surgeon.

More than 13 million people in 2012 chose minimally invasive procedures like BOTOX and fillers.

"It's just like a slight little bee sting. It's not bad at all," said Deanna about BOTOX.

"There is no real recovery to that kind of stuff, but there is a maintenance, there is a schedule that people stay on to make it work," said Dr. Atalla.

"When it kicks in you'll look more awake, more refreshed. A lot of people say they're tired of looking tired," said Amy McGill, a certified physician assistant.

If you shy away from needles there are some completely non-invasive procedures which can reduce fat, contour, and tighten tissue on your face or body through radio frequency.

"We consider this social downtime, so you might leave looking a little flushed, maybe a little sunburned, but it resolves in 10-20 minutes," said Amy.

"It's very hot. It's not painful, but we get the skin temperature up to a certain level where it's very warm, but the more you can handle the more results you get," said Dr. Atalla.

As for Deanna, she says no one can tell she's had BOTOX, but the results make her feel better.

"I'm told frequently that I look good, so that feels good to be told that," said Deanna.

If you're thinking about having a cosmetic procedure don't be shy about asking your plastic surgeon plenty of questions and make sure the devices being used are FDA approved.
