WKU Freshmen Moving In On The Hill

“We are really excited. It's freshman year, so I'm ready to get started and see what college has in store for me," said Rianna Sullivan, WKU Freshman.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky (WBKO) -- WKU welcomes students back to campus!

"It's just an exciting time in general to be a part of the WKU family,” said Brian Meredith, WKU's Chief Enrollment Officer.

Master Plan is just days away and students are packing in their luggage and appliances. One student had some help from her mom, traveling from Nashville, Tennessee.

"It's just really hot. Other than that, it's fine. We have a dolly!" said Rianna Sullivan, WKU Freshman.

WKU officials say the incoming freshman are one of the University's largest baccalaureate classes.

"It's just an energy and feel that is very positive this year. It is my favorite time a year as we go into the fall," said Brian Meredith, WKU's Chief Enrollment

WKU has already organized the class of 2018's first week on campus.

"Sunday they check in for Master Plan. That is our welcome week. They will gather later Sunday evening in Smith Stadium for the Freshman Convocation from our Dr. Ransdell, our President. Then, we will have activities all next week helping them get settled in," said Brian Meredith, WKU's Chief Enrollment

Smiles and laughter are abundant near all of the residence halls.

“We are really excited. It's freshman year, so I'm ready to get started and see what college has in store for me," said Rianna Sullivan, WKU Freshman.

One freshman says he is no stranger to The Hill.

"I have two sisters attending Western as well and I decided to follow in their foot steps," said Larenz Winform, WKU Freshman.

Though social activities are usually an important item on the priority list, his excitement lies ahead.

“I'm very excited and can't wait to get to class," said Larenz Winform, WKU Freshman.

WKU's classes officially start Monday, August 25.
