Runaway Sumner Co. Inmate Arrested in Horse Cave

Police have been searching for a Sumner County, Tennessee jail escapee who got away in Bowling Green Wednesday afternoon.

The inmate was arrested Thursday evening, thanks to a tip.

35-year-old Stevie Robertson was in jail for sexual exploitation of a minor, and a judges order allowed him to come to Bowling Green for a doctor appointment with his father-in-law. That's when police say he escaped at the White Castle on Scottsville Road.

He was later reported to be at his mother's home, where she says he was planning to surrender. She says he then told her to get out of the truck they were in and drove away.

Robertson was found Thursday night at the Country Hearth Inn and Suites in Horse Cave near exit 58 on I-65.

"Kentucky State Police was notified by the janitor at the Country Hearth Inn stating he had just watched the five o'clock news with WBKO, and said he saw Mr. Robertson's picture. I believe the car was run at that time. He also recognized the car, contacted the Kentucky State Police Post. We were able to run the tags at that time and found it was Mr. Robertson's vehicle," said Kentucky State Police Trooper Jonathan Biven.

Trooper Biven says Robertson was registered at the motel under a different name.

KSP says when they arrived at his motel room, he willingly surrendered.
