A train has struck a car at a railroad crossing in western Kentucky, killing the driver of the car.

The Earlington Police Department said the crash occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday and involved a southbound CSX train and a 1997 Pontiac.

The victim was identified by police as 26-year-old Keisha D. Young of nearby Madisonville. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Hopkins County Coroner Dennis Mayfield.

There was no immediate indication why Young's car was in the path of the train at the West Moss Avenue crossing.
