Lowe said she covered the boys' mouths to prevent her parents from hearing their cries.
A jury has been selected in the trial of a Hendersonville woman charged with first-degree murder in the smothering of her newborn twin boys.
On Monday, a jury of seven men and five women was sworn in after a day of jury selection, along with three alternates, for the trial of 26-year-old Lindsey Lowe.
Lowe has told police she hid her pregnancy from everyone before giving birth at home on Sept. 12, 2011. Lowe said she covered the boys' mouths to prevent her parents from hearing their cries.
Lowe's attorney John Pellegrin has said he believes biological changes during her pregnancy may have caused the onset of a mental disease.
Prosecutors have said they will not seek the death penalty and Lowe is currently free on bond.
