"When it comes to busting a head, cracking a skull, it's illegal," Larry P. Stinnett said.

The trial for Barren County Sheriff Chris Eaton and two other Barren County law enforcement officials starts Monday.

Eaton, a deputy, and another law enforcement official were indicted on multiple charges for an incident that happened three years ago.

In February of last year, Eaton and Deputies Adam Minor, Aaron Bennet, and Barren County Drug Task Force Official Eric Guffey were indicted for allegedly beating Billy Stinnett while he was handcuffed in 2010, then covering it up.

Eaton was also accused of intimidating a witness.

Sheriff Eaton and the other three originally pleaded not guilty in federal court, but Dep. Minor changed his plea, and pleaded guilty in May to one of the charges.

In November, Sheriff Eaton, Bennett and Guffey were further charged with excessive force during the 2010 arrest, along with the original charges of falsifying documents, and lying to the FBI about it.

Former Dep. Minor is expected to testify against the sheriff and two officers sometime this week.

Stinnett's father told WBKO in July, his son couldn't talk the day after the alleged attack because he was nearly beaten to death.

"When it comes to busting a head, cracking a skull, it's illegal," Larry P. Stinnett said.

Trial will start tomorrow in U.S. District Court in Bowling Green for Sheriff Eaton, Dep. Bennett, and Det. Guffy.
