"We're still seeing record numbers at places like the Salvation Army of people who are coming in and needing help," says Mandy Hicks, Director of Marketing & Communications.

As spring moves in to South Central Kentucky, food pantries are in desperate need of supplies.

United Way kicked off its "Feed the Need" campaign on Friday in an effort to replenish local food pantries.

Businesses and groups are encouraged to hold internal food drives through April 13.

Food drives will also be held at various grocery stores on April 12 and 13.

The United Way says the amount of people needing food assistance continues to grow.

"We have a large influx of people who come in during that holiday season and they also have a lot of people who are running food drives during that season and giving back during that season so it gets depleted so bad this time of year. We're still seeing record numbers at places like the Salvation Army of people who are coming in and needing help," says Mandy Hicks, Director of Marketing & Communications.

"Feed the Need" takes place in Warren and the six surrounding counties.

Volunteers are needed April 12 and 13. To learn how you can help click the link below.
