Tonight the United Way of Southern Kentucky recognized those who give to their organization and the community.

Almost 250 people reflected on a year that helped United Way surpass its fundraising goals and raise more than $1.7 million.

It's not just about the money. Many of these organizations donate their time too.

Fruit of the Loom was awarded the Live United award, and was one of the year's top givers.

"The United Way, rather than have to worry about where to put your money, you can just give it to the United Way and know there's going to be a lot of due diligence in making sure the money goes where it should be going."

More than 30 awards were presented to organizations from Allen, Barren, Logan, Simpson, and Warren counties.
