This week is National Volunteer Week.
As a way to give back, students at WKU turned a reusable item into an essential for the homeless.
Students made Plarn for the homeless; Plarn is a rug that is made out of plastic bags.
"The benefit of making Plarn is instead of a homeless individual sleeping on the ground, they will have this rug they can sleep on instead," said Aurelia Spaulding.
More service activities will take place at WKU throughout the week, including a canned food drive from 1 pm to 6 pm tomorrow.
