A grand opening is planned this week for the Western Kentucky University Student Business Accelerator, a 1,200-square-foot space to give students a chance to start a business while they're still in college.

The space is in the Center for Research and Development in Bowling Green, and the grand opening is set for 3 p.m. CST Tuesday.

Associate Vice President for Research and Economic Development Doug Rohrer says the idea is to help students succeed in their ventures and give them a chance to learn from the experience.

Students are given free space, high speed Internet and shared use of conference and meeting rooms. There's also up to $500 in incidental expenses to get students started with costs such as state filing fees, business cards, or URL registrations.
