Area Food Pantries Are Low After Record Summer of Service

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - A busy summer has taken a toll on area food pantries.

HOTEL INC in Bowling Green says they have added on average 40 new households a month since March of this year. The increase has left many shelves bare the the essentials families need.

The organization is now reminding the public they accept a wide range of food items for needy families.

"We provide breakfast, lunch and dinner items so when people are out shopping and are considering doing a food drive we ask that they think about it across the board. So that includes canned meat, chicken, tuna, vegatables such as carrots and peas," says Director Rhondell Miller.

The food shortage is not only at HOTEL INC, pantries across South Central Kentucky are in need of donations.
