"I expect it to be a little emotional, but I am on a different side of that battle now. Last year I had just found out, I hadn't had any treatment yet and now I have. I truly am a cancer survivor and I expect it to be just a little bit different," says Scarlet Jent.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Under the bright lights of the Bowling Green High School football field, hundreds of cancer survivors lined up to raise funds for research. A little rain from mother nature didn't damper their spirits.

"What we've been through, the rain is the least of anything we could have faced. It's a blessing to feel the rain on your face," says cancer survivor Linda Steuer.

Steuer is a seven time cancer survivor. Her story, along with hundreds of others, is truly an inspiration.

"Ovarian, blatter, colon and four times in the brain and I've survived all of it. 8 years this past January," says Steuer.

"The first time I had a soft tissue sarcoma on the right arm which is rare. One in 1,000 people get that then the second one is breast cancer in 2007," says Shirley Patterson.

Relay for Life hopes by raising money, some day these stories will end. As survivors made their way around the track, to cheers from the crowd, it was time to reflect on what could have been.

"The hairs on my arm will stand up even on that first lap that we do for the survivors. That lap is very emotional," says Steuer.

"I expect it to be a little emotional, but I am on a different side of that battle now. Last year I had just found out, I hadn't had any treatment yet and now I have. I truly am a cancer survivor and I expect it to be just a little bit different," says Scarlet Jent.

The Warren County Relay for Life is one of the largest in Kentucky.
