WARREN COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) - Residents of Warren County will see an increase in fire dues for their local volunteer fire department.
Warren County Fiscal Court passed an ordinance Friday morning to increase dues by $10 by a vote of 4 to 2.
Those against the increase fear departments will keep asking for a raise year after year, but fire departments say the costs of operation continue to sky rocket.
Alvaton Fire Department Deputy Chief Brad Harper told Warren County Fiscal Court Friday morning: "It's supporting the fire department and not just having to pay an extra $10. If they look at the lack of increases that we have had over the years, an extra ten dollars is not much to ask."
Warren County says anyone upset with the increase can opt out of paying dues.
You must visit the Warren County Sheriff's Office by August 15 to pick up the paper work, before the next tax bill is mailed.
