BARREN COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) - For Dylan Durbin, the football field is the only place he wants to be.

"It's just a sport I love. It's in my blood," says Durbin.

But his dream almost didn't come true. Dylan has Cerebral Palsy, making it difficult to use his legs. His persistence and passion for the game won over some little league coaches.

"It was important for me just to have him on our football team. So we went over and his mom introduced us and we introduced ourselves to Dylan and I could see a certain fire in his eyes that he really wanted to be a part of something," says Coach Mike Houchens.

"We are going to treat him just the same as we are going to treat any other kid. We feel like every kid that wants to play football should have the opportunity. We are not going to tell that boy no," says League Commissioner Dave Houchens.

With his team mates by his side, Dylan is rolled out onto the field each game. He abandons his wheelchair and makes tackles like a pro. All while a proud mother stands on the side lines.

"These coaches are teaching more than football. They are teaching respect and things to kids that most kids don't have the means to get to," says Tonya Durbin.

For the young players of the Barren County Raiders, it's about rallying behind a friend and always protecting a teammate.

"Once I knew they accepted him so much I knew they would take care of him so it just eased everything," says Tonya Durbin.

With one dream down, Dylan Durbin is ready to tackle the world.

"Well. You can do anything you want. Once you put your mind to it," says Dylan.

For making one childs dream come true, we honor the coaches and players of the Barren County Raiders as this week's Hometown Hero.
