CAVE CITY, Ky. (WBKO) - A change is coming to the Cave City Dollar General that some customers may notice right away.
"There are some people that I work with here that I have seen more than my own family," says Cave City Dollar General Manager Nancy Biven.
After more than 30 years, Biven is preparing for retirement. She says the change of pace won't come easy.
"I''ve enjoyed my job obviously or I wouldn't have been here for 30 years. Whenever I would take a vacation I would never dred coming back to work," says Biven.
District Manager Paul Shafer says the absence won't be easy to fill. Nancy Biven is known for her customer service, treating each person that walks in the store like a member of her family.
"She does everything. She does anything she can possibly within her limits to do for them, from programming their phones if they buy phones, or just going to look for stuff that they want," says Shafer.
"I would lend them money and actually they bought groceries here and I would pay for it and at the first of the month you would always see them and they would bring it back to me," says Biven.
Now, some of those same customers are greeted with a sign outside wishing Nancy success. Her secret to her year's of service is the great employees she considers family.
"I did it to the best of my ability and I have seen a lot of people come and go, but at the same time I have had a lot of personnel that have stayed with me and have gone on to be store managers," says Biven.
For her year's of dedication, making sure every customer leaves happy, we honor Nancy Biven as this week's Hometown Hero.
