GLASGOW, Ky. (WBKO) - Cancer is tough on patients and their families, but a doctor in Glasgow hopes to make it a little easier on everyone.
Dr. Craig Tyree, a cancer specialist at Barren River Regional Cancer Center, held a 4th of July cookout for current and previously treated patients. Hundreds gathered to say thank you to the doctor and his staff. Dr. Tyree says the bond with his patients is different than most.
"When patients come in here they get treated everyday Monday through Friday for several weeks so you get very attached and very close. You get very close to the patient and their family members so you don't really consider them patients, it's more like family," says Dr. Tyree.
This is the third year Dr. Tyree has held a cookout. He says they often do events throughout the year, but the cookout is the largest.
