A Bowling Green man that caused terror at a local apartment complex when he began swinging at doors with an ax could be facing a long jail sentence.

Some say they are trying to move past the events that happened that night.

It was on October 16Th at 10pm that 30 year old, Joshua Forrest Travis was accused of striking a man at the Garden Apartments with a single blade ax.

"He strike him with the ax and got him right here,"says a friend of Sakib.

Travis continued to swing at several doors in Complex D.

"I thought we were dying. When we turned around the ax was already coming through our door and me and my kids ran a jumped out the bedroom window,"says Crystal Hubbard.

After a group of bystanders confronted Travis, struck him, and knocked him to the ground he was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, and was later arrested on October 17Th.

"He has been charged with assault first degree, as well as wanton endangerment, and some other accompanying charges. Were going through the process where were providing discovery to the defense council and we anticipate at the January pre-trial, if he doesn't enter a plea we will be sending the case to trial by jury,"says Chris Cohron, Warren County Commonwealth Attorney.

The ax marks are gone but some say they still have nightmares about what happened that night.

"My grandson he still don't even want to sleep by himself. I have to sleep in the lounge chair while he sleeps in my bed," says Ruthanne Bowling.

Cohron said if convicted Travis could face up to 25 years in in prison.

"25 years should be long enough for him to sit in there and think about what he's done to those kids. He's really scared those kids,"says Bowling.

During his testimonial Travis said he does not remember anything about that night.

Travis is currently being held at the Warren County Regional Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.

He will appear in court January 28Th for a pre-trail conference.

The investigation into exactly what happened that night is still on-going.
