Investigators believe a Muhlenberg County house explosion on Feb. 9th was intentionally set.

Firefighters say the firery explosion leveled the home very quickly.

More than two weeks ago witnesses say fire claimed what used to be the 10,000 square foot house within minutes.

"A house was on fire and flames were showing and there were reports of an explosion in the area," said Lt. Chuck Browning with the Greenville Fire Department on Feb. 10th.

But no one was home...

The Cundiff family, who owns the property, told us they were out of town that weekend.

A witness says he used to work in the mines.

He lives right next to where the house used to stand and says it was worse than anything he ever experienced in the mines.

Greenville firefighters say the boom rattled the town.

"I live close to their actually and it rumbled my house," Lt. Browning says.

After continuous investigation, a Kentucky State Police Arson Investigator and a State Fire Marshal have determined that someone started the fire.

"It has been determined that it was intentional and of course we are looking to the public if anyone knows any information," says KSP Public Affairs Officer, Trooper Stu Recke.

Police haven't released what led them to determining it was intentional.

"As far as our investigation goes. Of course we want to make sure it is a thorough investigation and we're on no time table," Trooper Recke says.
