Construction at the intersection of Smallhouse and Cave Mill Road in Bowling Green was supposed to alleviate flooding but residents aren't so sure it actually is as their yards became flooded during today's rain.

Brenda Blankenship who lives on the corner of the intersection in the Hunting Creek neighborhood took pictures as the water rushed from the road onto their property flooding their front yard.

She says the drainage ditch that runs to the back of their property also began overflowing, causing flooding along the side of their house and in the backyard in a very short amount of time.

Blankenship says she is concerned the construction may have made the issue worse.

"It was just rushing like a river which kind of worries me if it continues to do that and we have a week of steady rain like we did that one time there was flooding over here in the entrance of Hunting Creek, if it should do that we would probably end up with water in the house," she says.

However, Blankenship says since the construction has been completed this is the only time their yard has become flooded.
