SKyPAC is set to open March 10th, and local officials weighed in on its impact on Bowling Green's economic development and the future.
It's all green lights for economic development in the downtown area of Bowling Green.
The opening of SKyPAC shows promise for the future of downtown.
"It's just one more piece of the puzzle to bringing people down here that are going to live work, shop, and enjoy downtown Bowling Green," said WCDEDA Chairman Doug Gorman.
Business leaders in the community feel it's going to keep money from going elsewhere.
"Those are dollars that we otherwise wouldn't get. We need those dollars coming in from outside warren county to get into the economy and circulate around two, three, or four times," said Stewart-Richey Construction President Rodney Rogers.
With the Hot Rods stadium, SKyPAC, parking garage and more, this is all part of an unprecedented economic development downtown.
"The TIF is quarter of a billion dollar revitalization. It's the largest economic development project in the history of this county. So, it's extremely important, but it's a great mixture of public and private," said Gorman.
Now those involved have some things they'd like to see added downtown including a hotel near WKU and private business.
"The next step, is also getting people to live in this area as well. What our hopes are, and what we're also negotiating with to get is to get residential apartments at block six," said Gorman.
"Businesses to move downtown, which when businesses move there, condominiums, residents move there, it's just going to bring a whole new light into downtown," said Rogers.
So with SKyPAC having the green light, you can expect to see a trickle effect of it into the local economy.
The official opening performance for SKyPAC is March 10th.
Country music star LeAnn Rimes headlines the evening performing with Bowling Green's own Orchestra Kentucky.
