Senator Rand Paul Wants U.S. Aid To Egypt To Stop

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - With the chaos continuing in Egypt, U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Bowling Green is speaking out about the United States relations with Egypt.

Senator Paul released a statement Thursday saying President Obama should stop sending billions of dollars of taxpayer money to Egypt. He says the United States aid is only adding fuel to the fire, providing the Egyptian military with more tear gas and weapons.

"It doesn't buy any, or help the Egyptian people when they see an American tank rolling down the street. It probably makes them less likely to have good feelings towards Americans. We don't have the money anyway. We shouldn't be sending more good money back to Egypt and it's against the law," says Paul.

Senator Paul says the law is "very clear" that when a military coup takes place all foreign aid must stop.
