BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - The Women's Fund of South Central Kentucky may only be a year old, but Thursday they reached their first milestone.
In their inaugural year the fund was able to present a check for $60,000. The group hopes to make a positive impact on children and women across our area by awarding a yearly grant to area charities.
Membership within the fund has already made an impact by teaching young women skills for the future.
"We have women 17 years of age involved and women 90 years of age involved so I think it's always a good starting point for young women to have something that they can be involved with at that age that they can grow in and be a leader in," says Shannon Vitale, Chair of the Women's Fund Advisory Board.
Along with the yearly grant, a permanent fund has been established to benefit future women and children.
