BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - The auction sign outside Teresa's Restaurant could mean a new owner or a new business.
"It would upset me. I hate to see it go," says employee Keri McGuffey
After 25 years, Teresa of Teresa's Restaurant says it's time for a change. For generations the business has served more than just food, but plenty of memories.
"When I see families that I have waited on since the children were babies and now they bring their children in, it's pretty overwhelming sometimes," says owner, Teresa Blair Reno.
Teresa has made customer service her priority. Everyday she can be seen greeting each table with a smile.
"I still love the people, but I kind of lost my passion and you absolutely have to love this business," says Teresa.
Now someone else has the chance to thrive with their own business. With the auction sign sitting out front, customers inside hope things stay the same.
"I hope and pray that whoever takes over has the same personality shes got," says customer Verna Smith.
"They are all upset and sad. Teresa has been around for years and it's sad to see her go," says employee Keri McGuffey.
Although Teresa is stepping aside, she's hopeful for the food and drinks to be flowing in the future.
"I hope somebody buys this and continues what I have done. What I have done, one little girl has done. If somebody comes in here that can delegate and ask people to help them. The potential is unlimited," says Teresa.
Another little girl, and the restaurants youngest employee, is glad to be seeing more of her grandmother.
"I'm also glad we will be able to spend more time together."
Teresa says she has no indication of who will buy the restaurant at auction. She says it will be up to them to carry on the restaurant or change it completely.
