Warren County Sheriff's Office Confirms Increase in Concealed Carry Applications This Year

Updated: Thu 6:14 PM, Jan 24, 2013

As the possibility of a stricter gun control bill approaches, thousands across the nation appear to be buying assault rifles.

And the number of people looking to get their concealed carry permit seems to be following the same trend.

Stephen Harmon of the Warren County Sheriff's Office says they are constantly seeing more new applicants for the concealed carry permit every day.

"The big month where it actually exploded in the application process was this month. And from January 1st of '13 to today we've seen a 65 percent increase since January 1st of 2012," Harmon says.

Last year, the Warren County Sheriff's office had 73 applications in January.

This year, that number has sky-rocketed to 112 so far this month.
