With each step they took another baby can be born healthy, that is the motto for the annual March of Dimes March for Babies held this morning in Bowling Green.

Hundreds gathered at Phil Moore park to benefit the March of Dimes, an organization that is dedicated to helping babies who are born pre-maturely.

Some were there to celebrate the healthy babies while others marched to remember those who were not as fortunate.

Purple flags were lined along the path represented the nearly 150 babies that are born prematurely each week in Kentucky.

Events such as the march aim to lower those statistics.

"March of Dimes is one of the best ways to get folks out together, to march together, to walk together, to help babies be born healthy and mothers to have healthy pregnancies. That's what were progressing towards. We have some successes but we're still trying to have every baby born healthy in the world. Wouldn't that be wonderful, " says Pearl Taylor with March of Dimes.

Taylor says they hope to raise $75,000 from the march today and the money will go towards March of Dimes research and cures in South Central Kentucky.
