In Frankfort, Governor Ernie Fletcher signs a bill allowing an increase in the speed limit on certain parts of Interstate 65. The bill specifies the increase will only come after an Engineering Safety Study is done by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
Bowling Green Senator Brett Guthrie sponsored the bill and said they’ve studied the plan carefully in other states. He said they’ve found no connection in increased speed limits and accidents on the interstates.
More than 30 states have already increased interstate speed limits to 70-miles-per-hour in some places.
