The Latest News from the General Assembly

The stalemate continues at the state capitol as Kentucky lawmakers continue work on the last day of the regular session.

Lawmakers returned to Frankfort, Ky., on March 26, 2007, for their final two days, but the flow of legislation slowed to a trickle.

A few bills passed, including a measure to push back the deadline for presidential candidates to file for next year's general elections. There are still several weighty issues still in limbo, including $370 million in vetoed university projects, overhauling the state pension system and funding for the protection of the state's social worker.

Legislators are expected to work late into the night.
