A decision may come within two weeks by Governor Ernie Fletcher on when to call lawmakers back to Frankfort, Ky.
The governor said if leading lawmakers can get on the same page a special session could occur before the May 22 primary election. Fletcher made the comments after talking to the blue-ribbon commission on April 16, 2007.
The governor empaneled the group to look into stabilizing the state employee retirement system, which faces a debt of $12 billion.
The special session will address projects lawmakers left unfunded, as well as an energy bill.
