Federal Court Orders Lawsuit Dismissal

A federal appeals court has ordered the dismissal of a lawsuit challenging President Bush's domestic spying program,
saying the plaintiffs had no standing to sue.

The American Civil Liberties Union led the suit. The ACLU said the decision keeps Americans from being able to challenge the illegal surveillance of their telephone calls and e-mails.

Earlier this year, a judge in Michigan found that warrantless surveillance aimed at uncovering terrorist activity violated constitutional rights.

A White House spokesman said the administration had always believed the Michigan case was "wrongly decided".
